About this program

Novara's Writing Classes are a weekly space where participants write regularly, share their work safely, and grow as communicators. Each session combines a short teaching focus with guided writing time and structured peer feedback.

Sessions move between academic writing (essays, statements, applications) and creative writing (personal narrative, poetry, storytelling), so participants build both the skills schools and scholarships expect and the confidence to tell their own stories.

What you'll learn

  • Structuring a clear paragraph, essay, and argument
  • Writing personal statements and scholarship applications
  • Creative writing techniques: voice, imagery, and narrative structure
  • Editing and self-review — how to revise your own drafts
  • Giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Writing with confidence in a second language
