Let the wave pass
When grief surges, stop resisting it. Breathe, let it move through, and notice that it does come down. Fighting it usually lengthens it.
Grief after death, displacement or the loss of a future you expected — and what helps you carry it.
Understanding it
Grief is the response to losing something that mattered. That includes bereavement, but also home, country, safety, education, or the life you had planned.
There is no fixed order and no schedule. Grief arrives in waves, often triggered by dates, smells, songs or ordinary moments, and the waves gradually come further apart.
You do not 'get over' a significant loss. Most people find they grow around it — the grief stays, and life slowly widens again alongside it.
